33 Perl ecosystem maintainers gathered in Leipzig for four days of intensive collaboration, delivering major security tooling improvements, testing infrastructure updates, and core performance enhancements that benefit the entire Perl community.
The Perl Toolchain Summit 2025 needs financial support to bring together essential contributors who maintain Perl’s critical infrastructure. Unlike languages backed by large corporations, Perl relies entirely on community support. The summit will focus on revitalizing CPAN Testers and implementing secure authentication for PAUSE uploads, both vital for Perl’s ecosystem security and health. Current sponsors include Booking.com, WebPros, and several others, but more funding is needed to reach the €25,000 target.
Deriv, an online trading company processing millions of transactions daily, continues to support the Perl ecosystem after 25 years of utilizing the language in their operations.
